User cannot view older email in Conversation

Hey guys,
I have a user who says that when he clicks on an unread email that is within a conversation at the bottom, it brings him all the way up to the top to the most recent email in the conversation and he does not want Outlook to behave like that. He says that it's intermittent and I myself was unable to recreate the issue after a created a chain of test emails.  Has anyone heard of this before?

Version 2013,2016?

The issue possibly is the focus in an HTML based comment refocuses ...

That is often an issue with threaded view where multiple people might respond ....
Have you tried setting it to Use Classic Indented View?Classic indented view shows messages in the conversation indented based on their position within the conversation.

Maybe that was changed somehow.

That won't work.  He has the show as Conversations check box unticked and he doesn't want the conversations grouped together.
Is this webpage outlook or part of Office?
This is for Outlook client. I'll find out the version
It's Office 2016 Office 365 version
Check view and see the message arranging. If it is not conversations,

You have a thread, and you get a new message, but when you click instead of going to the unread it opens at the top of the thread?

not sure it can be fixed or there is something else going on ....
Yeah, I doubt that there is a fix for this either.  I even doubt that there is an issue, but I'm pretty much just doing a customer service thing here right now lol
