I rebooted our HP UX rx2800 system and went to login to the oracle database it runs but it hadn't automatically started as it normally does, so I started sqlplus as user oracle and typed &quot;connect / as sysdba&quot; as I normally do and got &quot;you are connected to an idle instance&quot;, so I type &quot;startup&quot; and got the following error &quot;SQL&gt; startup<br />
ORA-00119: invalid specification for system parameter LOCAL_LISTENER<br />
ORA-00130: invalid listener address '(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(H<wbr />OST=rx2800<wbr />)(PORT=152<wbr />1))'<br />

Other than rebooting there wasn't anything done to the system.<br />
Any ideas?
