Single domain name added to internet options local intranet
We have a single domain name for our intranet. http://intranet.company. We have additional sites like http://special1.company and http://special2.company. We are starting to require logins for these sites but are having difficulty getting the browsers to submit login information automatically.
Normally, with the security settings set at, Automatic login only in Intranet zone the sites just appear. But we are unable to add our internal sites to the security local intranet zone.
If we add http://intranet.company and OK it will save it as http://*.intranet.company. I can't add http://*.company because if says there is an invalid wildcard sequence. But that is really what I want.
Just using the web servers name or ip address doesn't work either. There has to be a way to us a single domain name for intranet use. Any help will be appreciated.

HTTP. No SSL.
Are you using private space ips:10.x.x.x,172.16-31.255 .255,192.1 68.x.x?
You could push the site within the intranet zone using GPO.

Intranet is the zone, this is where IE will provide user credentials, though it might also have to be enabled under sevurity.

Well this might be a failure anyway. It looks like IE will authenticate but other browsers are still asking for the login. Seems not all systems use those GP rules.
IE has the integration from MS, other browsers do not have access to the MS user auth mechanism.
Should that be https:// and not http://?
