the inital size shown in properties - file for tempdb which I assume is current size of the tempdb. To get the real inital size , I will have to run following query<br />

I am suppose to change 1024 with 512 as that is my auto growth value.<br />
TempsizeinMB would be the value for tempdbmdb file under properties- file section.<br />

Can you please confirm it<br />

The above query shows the actual file size. The initial size which applies after the restart is stored somewhere else:

You can add a new file to tempDB. It will resolve the issue.<br />
<br />
After that you can re-configure tempDB:<br />
1. Put Max size limit on old file.<br />
2. Add some free space to the TempDB disk.<br />
3. Transfer TempDB file to another disk.<br />
4. Restart SQL Server - it will re-create TempDB.<br />
5. Optimize query to use less TempDB space.<br />

I know nothing about SQL server and had email from the company who maintain our servers that some drives on sql server are full.<br />
One of the drive has tempdb.ldf and tempdb.mdf files. Google guru tells me to restart SQL server service , tempdb will reset itself and create free space. It would not affect the Sql database functionality as tempdb hold information on temporary basis. Please confirm / advise<br />

I am assuming I will have to restart the SQL server services from services and it will do the job.<br />
