Transferring Operating System from one laptop to another

I want to transfer the operating system of a laptop to another laptop. The OS is Windows 10. I want to transfer it to a laptop which has Windows 8 for its OS. How do I do this?

Need to clarify what you mean by "Transfer"

What are your plans for the current laptop that has Windows 10 when you've removed the Operating System? You won't have a licence to use it on both.  Or are you intending to end up with Windows 10 on both (just installing it on the Windows 8 laptop)?

Do you want the Windows 8 machine to contain all the software and data that's already on it but UPGRADE to Windows 10 or are you going to wipe the laptop and install Windows 10 from SCRATCH?

Do you have Retail, Volume or OEM (Manufacturer supplied) licences for Windows on the laptops currently?

I want to transfer the licence to the second laptop. I will get rid of the original laptop which is older and has a lot of problems

I am not sure of the provenance of the original laptop which is a Toshiba satellite . I do not have the license code but I have been using it for several years

You are probably still able to upgrade your Windows 8 laptop to Windows 10 through Microsoft's site.
Download Windows 10
If you want to keep all of your old files and settings you can click the Update Now button at the top, or you can create Windows 10 installation media by clicking the Download tool now button.

I'm no lawyer, but I can confirm that I have done this for a few PCs recently, and the license was shown as valid after the upgrade.
