Exchange DAG with servers on AWS and on premise

I have an on premise Exchange 2013 environment with 2 servers in a DAG. I am trying to add a third server, but on AWS. I have created the server, the server OS is exactly the same the on premise servers. Both on premise servers can ping the AWS server, both by IP and FQDN. All permissions on the AWS server match the on premise servers.

However, when working in the ECP i continually get this error regarding the AWS server:
An error occurred while accessing the registry on the server "ServerName". The error that occurred is: "The network path was not found. ". Is there a special way that AWS has to be setup so that my on premise Exchange server can "locate" my AWS server?

Any help is much appreciated.

Did you add a DC in AWS? Is it setup as its own Site in AD? You need to have a Global Catalog server in each site that contains an Exchange server.

I have not done that. Would you be willing to tell me why that needs to be? Just for my own knowledge. Thanks

I agreed with @jeff - But, if he only wants to do replication he can just add the exchange on that location. Just keep in mind the server is a member of active directory GC. You need to make sure DNS is pointing right. Active directory and exchange depend on name resolution all the time.
I can only say what the Published requirements are (understand, Microsoft's requirements and what works do not always coincide). Microsoft says you should have a DC with GC at each site that contains an Exchange Server. I know from experience that without a Global Catalog, you have all kinds of issues with Exchange.  I have never tried what you are doing (Our Dag is fine with 6 servers at 3 sites) but it could be the root of your issue. That being said, Hemil is correct. Without DNS being exactly correct you cannot do anything with Exchange or AD.

Thank you guys for the information. I will make those changes and see what happens.
