Best Windows 10 backup software

What is the best Windows 10 backup software which can connect to network drives, and back up data from one network drive to another?

The best solution so far is Veeam.

There is a free version called Veeam Backup & Replication Community Edition:

Btw. you can use Windows Backup too. It's usually enough for basic needs. :-)

ASKER

Veeam does not seem to be user friendly to backup folder and files from Network Shares to other Network shares.
If you are simply trying to back up files in network shares to other network shares, consider using robocopy.

We tried many things and some of them were really robust for our needs, also others didnt get what we needed, we found that Uranium Backup covered our needs perfectly and was not expensive at all, BUT, only if you have local backups, for cloud search something else.

Depends on what you want and need.

  • Once a day
  • Hourly Incrementals
  • Email Notifications
  • Fast restores
  • Backup to remote devices such as Network attached storage, a Share on another PC, Different external drives on a rotation
  • Be able to handle rotation of backup drives (its no good if they backup to a lone attached USB drive and cryptoware encrypts the sole backup drive while doing over the PC)

Many fo the freebies like Macrium Reflect, VeeAM, Aesus etc will back the whole drive to a nominated destination on a simple schedule, once per day.

Something to consider is that many of these only have email notifications, incremental backups, complex schedules if you buy the product to get these features - which is worth very penny.

Any time I set up a backup system be it a cluster of servers or a single PC, I make sure the customer gets notifications about the success or failure of the job each time it executes.  It :

  • makes sure they know its happening,
  • alerts them if there is an issue
  • provides evidence that in 5 months time when the backup hasn't ran for 60 days and they try to blame you, you can show they've ignored the email notifications not you.
the best backup software is the one that does what you need, and like best
they all work -
