File Permissions Change
Office 2007 on Windows 10 Pro 64 bit.
-Random Word docs the user creates and saves on the network drive loses the owner and he can no longer access the document, sometimes AS he is working on it. It won't even let him close it.
-Other Word docs he creates are fine.
-I have to log into the file server, take ownership of the file, then add the user manually to the security tab. Once I add the user and apply, all the other inheritable permissions populate and the user is able to access.
-PC was updated to Win 10 from Win 7 in the fall.
File Server is Windows Server 2012 R2.

Thanks. I figured it was an Office issue. I had several other Office issues with other PC's that were upgraded from Win 7. I was hoping someone else had this before and it wasn't related to Office.
-I'll check connectivity now, just in case,
-It is the user's drive, but other's have read access, but rarely go into other people's folders. It has happened with new test files that no one was accessing.

A couple of things you can check:
- Make sure you have all the latest updates and patches for Office 2007. I know there's a bunch of them.
- This could be a connectivity issue - if the user's PC is losing connection to the file server it could cause that weird "orphan" problem where it's not sure what to do with the file.
Are the files being saved to a shared folder where multiple users have access, or is it the user's personal folder?
