Cloud Server Hosting and Docker usage

I am new to Cloud Server Hosting and would like your option on the best and most cost effective Cloud Server Hosting site. I will be running a Debian 10 server with MySql. The total size will around 4 GB. I will have around 5 or so people accessing the server. In addition, has anyone used Docker on a Cloud Server before (is it even possible)?

You make a lot of good points that I have never considered. Projecting our future usage and growth of users might make Cloud usage something that we might want to avoid and stay with localized servers.

For testing purposes I have created a Amazon AWS free tier Amazon EC2 750 Hours plan. I've read the information but it doesn't really mention the free space provided. It mentions 30GB in one location but  doesn't say if that includes snapshot storage. Has anyone one been using the Free Tier without being charged? Thanks

If you require a low cost... test bed solution... Consider a KimSufi $5/month physical server.

No guesswork with OVH/SoYouStart/KimSufi (all same company) as all specs are clearly provided.

One minor point, if you're using containers likely best to purchase a machine which can be configured with multiple IPs. This means OVH or SoYouStart, as KimSufi caps at 1x IP/machine.

Containers work best when each container has their own public IP, which makes setup + maintenance a snap... compared with doing proxy tricks to split traffic between 10.X.X.X local addresses.

Suggestion: After you close this question, open another question describing your App or Site or API (scope of your work), asking for how people might design development + production runtime environments for you specific project.

You might get many ideas for considerations for your runtime environment tooling.

Thanks for the help David.

You're welcome.
