Backup issue - Veeam - Requirement to restart teh RPC service.

One of my Exchange servers and a web server is failing to back up. Error:

Failed to prepare guest for hot backup. Error: RPC function call failed. Function name: ISsnapshot in progress) Target machine x.x.x.x. RPC error, The RPC server is unavailable. Code 1722. Error: RPC function call failed. Function name: (ISSnapshotinprogress). Target machine x.x.x.x. RPC error. The ROC server is unavailable. Code 1722

I need to restart the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) as a means to troubleshoot this error. Should I do this out of hours? Will it have a knock on effect on the users if I do it within office hours?

To be honest with you, I would not change any service on an Exchange Production Server in core hours, if something goes wrong it will be noticed by your End Users <------ and you'll look like the person wearing the Cowboy Hat!

I would schedule this change for out of core hours.

The DC is backing up now and one of the Exchange server but the other Exchange server and the web server is still failing!

Will restart the service out of core hours and let the job run.
Just rebooted the server.

The NTDS VSS writer was stable and the backup is now good!

The guests have NTFS partitions?

What is the % Free on their partitions? Any of them less than 25%?

Same questions for the host?
Hi, yes NTFS partitions.

I'll check the the storage of each drive and revert....
Server backup running after reboot  - but cheers for the info.
