Hi,

You need to check whether the setting is enabled or not in Azure firewall:

You will have to add IP ranges to access the database, if firewall is restricting the access.

Thanks,

Pratik, Thanks, can you generously give me the steps to explain your point?

I'm just trying to connect to Azure db using Power Query and  I probably missed important connection details. Can you tell me how to successfully connect pls?

1. Open Azure Portal and go to the Azure SQL Database.

2. Click on Set Server Firewall tab

3. Keep the setting, Allow Azure services and resources to access this server as ON.

4. Add the IP range of the system / VM in the Add IP text boxes and click on Save.

5. Try connecting the Azure DB, you should be able to connect to the database.

Thanks,

Pratik

does that mean I need to open an azure account and Pay?
does that mean I need to open an azure account and Pay?

you can apply for Azure trial account to familiarize the stuffs first.

The Azure trial account gives you some credits, so you can use that until it expires :)

Thanks

Pratik

Normally how long trial?

The Azure free account includes free access to most popular Azure products for 12 months, $200 credit to spend for the first 30 days of sign up, and access to more than 25 products that are always free.

what do you man by

" $200 credit to spend for the first 30 days of sign up"

You'll get $200 credits to your Azure account that you can spend within first 30 days on different Azure products.

Thanks,

Pratik

And then after 30 days..

You will have to upgrade to a pay-as-you-go account. They will start charging you for the services you use after 30 days or once your credits are finished (whichever happens first)

How long the $200 credit runs out?

See that depends on which Azure component you use, each and every component has different pricing tier.

The time till which your credit will be available depends on your usage.

But the credit will not be available after 30 days. So, you need to understand that even if the credits are available post 30 days you can't use that.
