alternative to telnet
I'm looking for an alternative to using telnet to test the ability to reach a server on a specific port.
typically, I'll start with confirming if I can reach a server with a ping and then do a telnet as:
telnet server-name port#
Is there something better that's about as straightforward (perhaps more verbose with messages)?
BTW, I'm testing from Windows to Windows.
