Anyone removed a very old kitchen counter top with no damage to the cabinets?
We want to remove an old kitchen counter top without harming the base cabinets. I've visually looked under there and see no obvious way the top is attached to the cabinets. If it's hidden staples, then removal might ruin it all. Any clues how they may be attached? These are old and the shelves inside are particle board.

Hi nick, sorry I don't have any additional feedback at the moment :(
Is there any parts where its a little loose and you can lift it up to take a peek? The old countertops we had were made from MDF with vinyl on top and I could basically lift them off the cabinets because they were so old. Those were attached with glue and self-tapping nails I think.
Since your countertops are older, are they made from MDF with a vinyl top too?

I tried to lift a section of counter top and did get some movement. I'll have to take all the weight off and try again just to see how much give there is.

If I got into it and ruined it, then the entire base and top would have to be replaced and it's 13 feet long.
The top is like this but a different color and "very" much older.
