Accesses the workbench in mysql from a front end application

Working with a mysql backend database. I am not sure what they are using for the frontend. I am using the frontend for my job now. I have to run reports with a command driven front end menu. I would like to utilize the workbench in mysql to run queries to simplify the process. Is there a way for me to get into the workbench? I did not see anything on the menus that would allow me to access the backend? Thanks in advance

Please rephrase your question. Describe what your need to do, especially what " have to run reports with a command driven front end menu" means.

The MySQL Workbench is a management and development tool. It is not designed for being part in a reporting solution.
Normally your reporting software does the connection handling to your (backend) database and the data retrieval.

If you're connected to the db via workbench, then you already can access to the backend (DB), don't you?

and I agreed with ste5an on his explanation.

you would like a Reporting tool, such as Excel, Power BI, Tableau, Qlikview, etc for the reporting and dashboard presenting.

What you seem to be describing is CRON.

Where you setup CRON jobs to run at some frequency, say every hour or every day, which run some SQL, then email (or other wise communicate the report) a notification list.

Normally for "backend access" (my guess is you mean the actual MariaDB/MySQL instance), easy way is to run your CRON job on the same machine as your database instance using the mysql command line tool or some scripting language like PERL or PHP.

Thanks and you are right. I am using a frontend -- I think they said JAZZ - I never heard of it. I am trying to access the backend from the front end. The front end is the menu driven for reports. I was not sure how to access the backend from the frontend. I know in access I had 2 databases set up one for a front end for my reports and one to hold the data on the backend. Maybe I need security access not sure. I thought maybe there might be an idea on if I can connect from the front end to the backend. I do not have workbench access but know it is a mysql database.
Thanks in advance
