Unable to delete join in select query

I am using Access 365 with Win10 and recently have encountered a show-stopping problem..

When I attempt to create a select query using the query builder the join lines appear as they always have.... but I cannot delete them.

If I click the line it turns bold for an instant...then normal again.. it never stays bold...
I also can not delete the join line by right clicking.

It seems as though Microsoft may have caused the problem with one of its recent updates.. I can tell they were working on the routine... when you click a table in the query builder.. the border turns yellow.. that never happened before.

I attempted to modify the code in the query builder and got a too many fields error... I only had five fields in the query...

Please provide error message and probably a screenshot for the ease of troubleshooting.
Any chance that you tables are linked and you have established relationships in the BE...if this is the case you cannot change it from the FE.
