Unable to delete join in select query

I am using Access 365 with Win10 and recently have encountered a show-stopping problem..

When I attempt to create a select query using the query builder the join lines appear as they always have.... but I cannot delete them.

If I click the line it turns bold for an instant...then normal again.. it never stays bold...
I also can not delete the join line by right clicking.

It seems as though Microsoft may have caused the problem with one of its recent updates.. I can tell they were working on the routine... when you click a table in the query builder.. the border turns yellow.. that never happened before.

I attempted to modify the code in the query builder and got a too many fields error... I only had five fields in the query...
