MS VPN

Hi Experts,

I am planning to install MS RAS server on W2019 server.  I have several questions:

1. What is maximum users to login VPN sessions at the same time?
2. Could you please let us know which article is the best for us to follow?
3. Is PPTP (Point to Point) secure enough or we have to use SSTP?

Thanks,

Ted

PPTP hasn't been secure enough for 15 years.

Why would you want to use MS RAS? It is one of the worst VPN solutions available. Why not use your router/firewall for VPN?

Thank you for input and advice.

The firewall vpn needs licenses, such as Any connection from Cisco.

I just want to use it for temporally due to Covid-19.

If you have any suggestions, I'd like to hear from you.  Thank you very much again.
Do users have desktops?  You could allow remote access to them, with or without a VPN
They all use laptops.
A VPN may be a viable option then.  Or add a terminal server (RDS server), or move data to the cloud.
You can get Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client for free right now from Cisco, specifically to address COVID-19.

https://blogs.cisco.com/security/cisco-expands-free-security-offerings-to-help-with-rise-in-remote-workers

Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client empowers employees to work from anywhere on company laptops or personal mobile devices. It also provides the visibility and control security teams need to identify who and which devices are accessing their infrastructure. Existing AnyConnect customers can exceed their user limit to support an increase in remote workers, and new customers can access a free license. To get started, existing and new customers should talk with a Cisco representative or partner to get the requested usage counts.
These offers will be available from now until July 1, 2020. Supporting our customers and partners remains a top priority, and we hope these proactive steps help companies manage the business impact and keep employees safe during this evolving situation.
How many users do you have, which Cisco? See whether what it has is all you need.
Actually webex, logmein and others have a 3 month special (free) due to covid-19.  Microsoft offers teams for 6 months.
Thanks to all.
SoftEther. Fast, flexible and free. Very secure. https://www.softether.org/
I use it for several clients and have had no issues. I run the server on a separate PC. The application and connections use a small amount of resources, so a basic PC with an i5 and 8GB can handle hundreds of tunnels. Of course, there may be bandwidth issues at that point.
