o365 sign-in not working.

A strange one. We have newly setup oneDrive for some users. They are successfully logging in fine from our corporate LAN (we filter SPO and OD by IP).
Most are using the thick client locally. No problems as yet.
I've a user that has just been setup on a new laptop.
Onedrive (OD) setup (thick client), but when loading a spreadsheet from OD the sign in prompt appears (modern auth form) but nothing works when clicking next. If i cancel it and sign in under File - Account - Sign-in - the account loads fine and i can enter the PW.
Is this a known bug?

Maybe this is a login prompt from the Excel?

No its a modern auth login for o365.
