During typing a comment
SNAG-0067.bmpthe editor added a hyperlink to one language but not the other.

Why?  How do I stop this / enable this behaviour.

Maybe it's just parsed the text and coincidentally VB dot Net is the valid address for the language at the URL that produces?
If so that's normal behaviour.  The editor thinks you're typing a URL put a space one side of the dot to avoid it happening.

Odd it doesn't provide a link for C# in the same manner.  Anyway I'm not so impressed it provides a hyperlink by default - something I don't have any control over.  I assume the link is actually good or it can make me (and other experts) look stupid.

I don't think it's smart enough to think "Hey, that's a programming language, I'll turn that into a live link to the website for the language."
I think it's more a case of "That's a valid format for a URL - I won't bother to check if it goes anywhere but I'll convert it to a link anyhow."

So dot net doesn't do anything but dot.net does (but then so does ainscow.net).  It's pure co-incidence that vb.net is a valid site (and goes to a Dutch online IT store - I wonder how much they could sell that domain for???)

EDIT: Have just visited your post - and am now on your side! That is bizarre they aren't valid URLs at all.  Are you typing your responses into the EE comment box directly or drafting them in a text editor and cutting and pasting?

I think a quick post to TPTB is in order...

Thanks.  Please amend it to entering text directly in the editor (firefox at my end on a win 10 PC)

FYSA:  I was told they are phasing out the old bug reporting posted above.  These days you are supposed to just leave "Feedback" and let it enter the black box.

You can see that in ModaLot's reply here:

Aha.  After a bit of searching I found the 'leave feedback' is only at the top of the page.  It would be nice to also have it in the 'three dots' at each comment.  I'll leave some feedback about that.  ;-)

It is also a link in your profile menu and in the footer of the pages

OK, there are those locations.  Neither place I looked for.

Page bottom (menu/toolbar options is usually at the top and I guess most would look there first!)  isn't too bad though next to a comment where the eye is already looking at is an obvious place to my way of thinking.  In the profile menu, I think, isn't an obvious place (why should I look in my profile to report an issue?).

Is this me being stupid/lazy or is this poor UI design?
