How to revert Expired Updates back to Non Expired.
How to revert Expired Updates back to Non Expired.
In WSUS, I have selected software updates and declined them. Now in WSUS they Show as Expired. I would like to roll back so that the will not show as expired in SCCM.
I wonder if I Approve the declined updates will hep revert them to non expired ?
I also would like to know when you Run Synchronize Software Updates from SCCM, will this Synchronize with your WSUS server, or with Microsoft Update Server, assuming your WSUS server does not have another upstream update server.
Thank you

Approve the updates again and then close WSUS and NEVER, EVER open it again if you use ConfigMgr. With WSUS and Configmgr there are two rules 1) never open WSUS console 2) never break rule 1.
From MS
"After a declined update has been cleaned up by using the WSUS Server cleanup Wizard, it will be deleted from the WSUS server and will no longer appear in the All Updates view. You can re-import Declined, cleaned-up updates from the Microsoft Update Catalog. "
Flow:
SUP > WSUS > MS
If you break your WSUS setup, you break SUP. See Rule #1.
From Prajwal Desai - blogger and MVP:
" It is okay to go into the WSUS console to review updates or the synchronization status, but you should not perform tasks such as approving or declining updates because it can adversely affect Configuration Manager’s software update management capabilities. "
