windows 10 on windows server 2016 essentials domain - Your File History credentials are no longer valid. Reenter your credentials

Error / notification appears within minutes after domain login.
Your File History credentials are no longer valid. Reenter your credentials
If you follow the link to File History and watch it for a few minutes, it starts out red and has the error, then while you're watching, the file history backup completes and the error goes away and 'file history is on' turns green and error is gone until next login.
The location is a shared folder on the server which is fully accessible when the link is followed. (click start type \\server\file history backups\username)

Hello There

You can try to turn off the File History then delete credentials from the Credential Manager and turn it on back. Not sure if it will help since all seems to be fine. You always get into the desired "green" status but with a delay.

I checked credential manager before I posted and there are no Windows credentials listed.  Seems to be an update related issue.
Is there a way to report this to MS without opening a case?
Rob Williams

You can mention it on the Microsoft forums where there are some MS staff, but I find it rather ineffective.  Most of the time with minor issues I just wait, you can be sure you are not alone so sooner or later it is addressed.  That being said there is a lot of frustration in the IT world that Microsoft pretty much gave up on Essentials.
Experts Exchange is like having an extremely knowledgeable team sitting and waiting for your call. Couldn't do my job half as well as I do without it!

But 2019 has an Essentials version - have they given up on that too?
Rob Williams

Eseentials is gone.  Essentials 2019 allows for 25 users without having to buy CALs, but that is it.  The Dashboard is gone, the backup is gone, Access Anywhere is gone, and all the wizards are gone.  It is sever standard with different licensing.  Years ago this was called Foundation server which was the same but limited to 15 Users.  Considered an entry level server with all the features of Standard.
