Solution: I emptied the download folder contents via C:\Windows\SoftwareDistrib<wbr />ution<br />
Then I removed and re-installed the SCCM client via the SCCM console.<br />
Afterwards, I executed Windows Update and the device was restarted.<br />

I hand plan to clear the ccmcache next, but the issue was resolved.<br />

Solution: I emptied the download folder contents via C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution
Then I removed and re-installed the SCCM client via the SCCM console.
Afterwards, I executed Windows Update and the device was restarted.
