SQL: "A network-related or instance-specific error occurred..."

Hello:

I just installed a new instance of SQL and am getting the attached error that begins with "A network-related or instance-specific error occurred..."

I have tried everything online that I have found.  What can I do, to get rid of this?

Great idea!

I just created and enabled a new firewall rule, for port 1433.  I'm still getting the error.  But, maybe, 1433 is not my port.  Is there a way of either telling the correct port number or do I need to do something else in the firewall rules?

Thanks!

Change the network protocol from named pipes to TCP:

Surface Area Configuration

btw, for firewall rules allow the SQL Server binary of your instance instead of a fixed port number.
