Recovery methods for accessing email accounts and Facebook.
When I travel and need to access these 4 accounts: Facebook, Yahoo mail, Hotmail #1 and Hotmail #2 I have trouble. The sites see me logging in from a strange IP address and want me to confirm the accounts thought a text message to my phone or an access code from a phone call. Not possible as the phone does not work overseas.
All these sites have "recovery" methods but all are texted code or phone call code. Last trip to Guatemala I thought I'd never get into them.
Any ideas beside buying an expensive phone for overseas use.

The only phone we would have in other countries is a phone that requires a sim card.
Can those authenticators be used on a desktop or laptop computer?

You need to install Authenticator apps like Microsoft Authenticator app (for Hotmail) and Google Authenticator app (for Facebook)

I'd have to get a phone with texting in the country we are visiting.
But the automated texted code sender may not know how to send a text to country abc due to the country code and city codes.
