You should have no problem converting or opening the db if it merely contains DATA, but if it contains compiled code or api calls then you will have to convert, can you show us the error you are getting?

You should be able to open a accdb in 64-bit, then you may need to update any API declarations and variables, there are also certain ActiveX controls that need to be replaced and others that simply do not exist so you have to find workarounds.<br />

That said, I always, why are you switching? &nbsp;64-bit offers very few advantages for the vast majority of users, so why change to 64-bit (unless you are one of those truly needing the 64-bit capability)?<br />

Thank you both. I had actually deleted this question. So have no idea why it is still up there. I was indeed trying to import from an accde format.<br />

To answer your question Daniel, it all comes back to the SMBLeasing issue at my one problematic client. I have tried everything in the forums to alleviate the issue of two or more users trying to access my .mdb file on the server. As discussed in previous posts one works great then the other opens their front end and the two users slow to a ridiculous state where a simple report takes from 20 to 40 seconds to open. I had hoped that upgrading to Access 16 would do the trick. I hoped that opening the newly created access .accde with their office 365's access would stop the issue. So I created it and when trying to open with their access version I got message this file is in 32 format please open with that. So now my only hope is creating an access 16 64 bit version

Does your front-end create a persistent connection to the back-end at the very startup?<br />
Are your users all using a wired LAN connection?<br />

O365, x64, none of that will help with this issue as it is caused by Windows 10 not Office.<br />

Probably you are chasing the wrong culprit.<br>Probably the problem is the BE and its "interaction" with host OS...not the bitness version of your FE.<br>I am afraid there are a ton of possible reasons why something might go wrong.<br>My recommendation would be to invest some time to go from scratch.<br>Just take a full Image Backup of the problematic client and reformat it...install only the least necessary things.<br>If the issue persists then its time to create a VM that will play the BE.<br>If the issue is really pressing and you must resolve it in its current then the only way to "see" what is wrong is to use <a href="https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/procmon" rel="ugc">Process Monitor</a>.<br>Just install it on 2 clients ...the bad and good (sry no <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Good,_the_Bad_and_the_Ugly" rel="ugc">Ugly</a>)...make sure its almost identical and have it run the least necessary applications (background) ...so fire on both the Process Monitor..start using the Application ..something will pop up for sure (but there are thousands of records...needs patience to find the one that makes the difference)

When our program front end opens is sees that the data is not where it was expecting and opens a file explorer allowing location of the file on the server to re-link to the data. I hope &nbsp;that answers your question. <br />

One user out of 50 users at 20 customers has a problem were any two users on one shared back end data on server as above slowed the application to almost a stop. I originally assumed it was something to do with SMBLeasing as this is the only other issue we had in 10 years. So did all the SMBLeasing workarounds with customers system. We had to move one other user (a third user) onto a back end on same computer as front end. He now has no problems but is not able to share data with the other two users.. At least and to some extent this proved there should not be an issue with our software. We left 7 months ago with two users on server data working well and one stand alone. 5 months later with no change or updates only one user can now use data on server.<br />

I have also had all SMBLeasing fixes applied without effect. It now seams that this may not be the issue at all. I have had the customers IT people at the customers along with our own very competent IT guy. Neither could see an issue. We even took a spare computer to add to network as a second server. No change. I have had copies of the data file and set up my own links from my computer without issue. We have run a continues ping for 15 minutes nothing showed up as a problem. Something must be wrong because the problem is so bad that the only user now accessing the data on the server has to open and close our FE software 3 or 4 times every morning just to get the application to open.

Strange strange problem...I am afraid that I don't have a similar "setup" as my last Enterprise environment was Office 2003 + Windows 7/2008<br>I took a look at the Smbleasing bug which seems like a bizarre bizarre bug ...<br>I would insist on further testing..some VMs (clients+ Server)&nbsp; and on the present case monitoring using Process Monitor to at least get some solid info on the differences ..it might seem useless but at least you will have something to check

My customer's IT people have ran the <b>process monitor</b> program that you recommended, here are the results:<br />

Process monitor – shows a larger bust of data, then very slow trickle – almost like its locking the database- waiting for data then unlocking ( and doing this 1000’s of times )<br />

Does that tell you anything, other than <b>it may be </b>locking unlocking the data

Process monitor is not an easy tool...you will need quite some patience to isolate the culprit or at least get a bet understanding.<br>As said you need to run it on both machines...the one that works OK and the other...filter out the unnecessary and concentrate on the &nbsp;Access FE - interaction - with BE...if you compare them side side by you should be able to pick something...<br>Maybe a good idea would be to run Process monitor on the BE to see why its behaving differently on the two machines

I just took a look at the Back end database. Some of the relationship key field links between tables are missing. I only know of one way to erase them and that is to go in and manually delete them. This looks like it may be the problem. I just wondered is there any way that SMBLeasing caused this error or if it could happen with some form of corruption?<br />

I'm staggered that the database ran at all. Could simply be that when I create queries I have it set to auto create table links. I now have the problem of re-linking the data tables whilst removing any unlined data

Keys are removed when corruption occurs...i had this problem when a corruption occured..the funny thing was that the application seemed to work just fine till a collision occured.

Your whole situation its strange...this complete Open/Reopen procedure 3-4 times makes me curious....hope the lost BE keys is the solution but i would recommend to test it some more.<br>If it works now...just let it work but before you close the case do make the captures via process monitor (you can store them for future inspection) and try to replicate the whole situation on VMs....i am thinking that maybe you are using some software that clashes with Access under certain conditions...
