asked on

same GUID

Hi Experts,

Our two Windows 2016 Domain controllers are having same GUID.  We want to change the GUID of one DC. Is there any adverse impact on the network by changing GUID
Please clarify.

Thanks in advance.

You're not going to change the GUID.  Remove one DC, DON'T CLONE IT, and reload it cleanly.

If we remove active directory services from server manager and reboot and install again from server manager. Will this help?
no it will not you have to reload the OS from scratch (keep nothing)
if you are going to create gold masters and clone them, one of the last steps is to sysprep to generate new SIDs, let the vm shutdown, then you can make your master image. sounds like this was just a straight clone (already bad news) and then promoted to a DC (very bad news). Searching for windows server vmware template or golden image will get you some other tips, so you can create a process for cloning if you prefer not to install from scratch every time.
