How to update ADMX and ADML files on Domain Controllers

Windows 2012 R2  domain controllers

I am trying to update the ADMX files on my Domain controller
I downloaded Administrative Templates (.admx) for Windows 10 November 2019 Update.

I ran the installer and it placed the ADMX and ADML file into my Temp folder

I then made a backup copy of my current C:\Windows\SYSVOL\sysvol\mydomain.com\Policies\PolicyDefinitions

Next I copied the new ADMX and ADML files

I did this on one DC

Today the files are gone.

So I tried to install on both DCs at the same time and that did not work either.

I thought it would replicate from one DC to another.

the central Store is replicated I know because my GPO's are fine on both DC's

I guess the question is how do I update the ADMX and ADML files on my DC ?

Thank you

Tom

so, the admx files went in to policydefinitions and the adml went into policydefinitions\en-us  (or whatever language it is)?

Today the files are gone.

the ones you just copied or everything?

I thought it would replicate from one DC to another.

correct, it does replicate to others

ASKER

Seth EN-US only

I copied from my temp folder to the policydefinrions folder and over wrote any file that already  existed.
were just those that you copied gone or others?
Seth,

I copied back the original files.

What is the best method to update them?

On one Dc do the updates and then see if it replicates?

Need ideas

Thanks

Sorry that did not help still getting the same error on my display

On my PDC server I restored back the original files both ADMX and ADML

I found those files and deleted them now it is working again.

I installed the admx files on my non PDC Emulator DC now I know that is a requirement for future updates.

Thanks Tom

So I installed on the PDC Emulator Server and I go the same errors

So I deleted the LocationProviderADM.admx and ADML

Then that error went away but this one came up   for searchocr.admx

Any thoughts

Update,

I then decided to delete the searchoct.admx and adml file   now all the gpo;s disiplay detail settings

strange how some install fine and other do not.

Tom
Thanks guys

All working now
