You can test one of the VMs by first looking at the hard disk to enumerate where it located on the datastore. &nbsp;Once this is completed you can unregister from the ESXi host and browse to the datastore folder fro this VM and register the VMX file for it. &nbsp;If the VM is in good shape it should start up.<br />
<br />
One item to check before you do this is your licensing whether you have the free or the retail license.

VMWare 6.5 Esxi<br />
Hi there, &nbsp;I just upgraded exsi to from 6 to 6.5. (This is a test server I haven't used in a long time.) For whatever reason, I can't start most of the VM, it looks as if they can't find the OS when I start them. When I browse the datastore I see the folder for each corresponding VM with all the files in there. Is there a way for me to &quot;re-enabled&quot; the VMs ?<br />

VMs in esxi 6.5 not starting

Virtualization is the act of creating a virtual (rather than actual) version of something, including (but not limited to) a virtual computer hardware platform, operating system (OS), storage device, or computer network resources. Virtualization is usually the creation of a system that executes separate from the underlying hardware resources, or the creation of an entire desktop for systems located elsewhere, similar to thin clients.
