At some point during the initial reboot Windows 10 wants an authorization key typed in (it needs to decide what version to install, which is contained within the key) and AFAIK that can be done only from the keyboard. Would another expert comment on whether this is the case?
If Windows is already installed, that's good. But as several colleagues learned, you can't fully do a remote install without automating some aspects UNLESS you have a good remote control software. RDP capabilities (at least in 1511 and 1607 did not restore themselves until AFTER OOBE (out-of-box-experience) finished. So they could initiate but then they had to have someone local to click through the initial setup. I do believe ConnectWise Control, which runs as a service itself, DOES start along with OOBE so you CAN finish an upgrade with that as your remote control software (note: other products may work as well; that's the one I use).

The newer win10 versions restore remote desktop port access immediately, no local helper needed. Use a vm with win7 to test with.
Is Rdp even possible, Jfala? How do you access it?

I have not tried RDP. Normally use LogMeIn to remote administer; however that does not persist on a reboot. Will look into the options presented here. Thank you.
Thing is, RDP requires port forwarding at the remote router. If you are able to set that up (should be easy), you can use RDP, unless you or someone in between has security concerns. Someone might cry "don't use RDP on the internet without a VPN", yes, we know that, I hope.

Could you share why you even want to do it from remote? Is there no one present at that machine who could do it? It does not require any expertise.
