I want to simply create a network drive visible in explorer, I have tried

New-PSDrive -Name 'Y:' -Root '\\server.domain\share$' -Persist -PSProvider 'FileSystem'

and

New-SmbMapping -LocalPath 'Y:' -RemotePath '\\server.domain\share$' -Persistent

but it never shows up in explorer as a mapped drive. surely this is easy peasy, how do I do this please?
