Hey guys, need some help. Trying to setup an RDP that, when connected, will bring up quickbooks hosted on a 2019 windows server standard. any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Questions:
  • Do you have one server that is runnning RDWeb, RDGateway and IS your RDSH host?
  • Do you have an SSL that is associated to your FQDN?
    • I HIGHLY recommend you get a wildcard cert
  • Do you have a static Public IP?
  • you will ONLY need to open port 443 on your firewall

ASKER

This server is the RDSH, We do use a self signed ssl certificate, open to ideas of getting a wild card cert if we need it.
we do have a static public ip, and will be using a VPN for the connection.
I might add that i havent created the server vm yet, this is all with the intents of gathering info before i begin the project
Self signed certs do not well or at all with RDS.

They will give your clients errors everytime they connect.
I think for the $50 you'll spend annually for a cert, it's well worth the investment.

OH BTW, do you have RDS CALs?  You will need to purchase some.

I recommend you acquire per user CALs rather than per machine.
We do have RDS CALs. What server roles are needed to send QB to the clients desktop?

Did you get the roles installed or you are not doing it yet.

This is not the same as the RDWeb Setup I messaged you with.

This is for a direct RDP connection to a remote computer.

No gateway is involved, unlike the setup I sent you as a demo.
