I do programming and sometime video editing. Bad experience when using a HP model when it turned out to be overheated.<br />

My experience tells that Dell model would be a good buy.

If you can afford the latest model Dell I will recommend Dell as this is my second laptop which I used for almost 4-5 years both laptops. Old one is still working and given to my <br />
&nbsp;daughter.<br />
if your budget is not high you can I will prefer Lenovo as 2nd choice. <br />
3rd choice will be HP. This order.<br />

I have lots of good experience with HP, but prefer Dell because they are easier to customize.<br>That said, you just need to decide what are the features you need: Battery life? Portability? Processor power? Screen size (probably not, see below)?<br>One big thing is laptop docks are a thing of the past, most newer laptops use a simple USB hub and you can plug your external monitors into that.<br>Related to the hub point above is make sure that you have the correct ports to plug in any devices related to your music.

I went to their build your own and looked through the features. I am looking to spend in the +- 2K range. There are alot of XPS options. I9 seems to be the main choice. It isn't urgent so I will give it some more thought. All their extra protection options make you want say forget about it. It is like them saying failure is inevitible but I guess they can't resist selling nothing for extra money. Thanks for all the suggestions.

I made my decision. Thanks to all who made suggestions. I followed Arnold's advice except I did get an XPS. It included I7 32gb 2t m.2 drive. I liked my old XPS. It just got old.

I now have my new laptop and I want to move my old Laptop's software and data to it. I have office 2016 on the old one where the new has office 365 trial. Also the new has windows 10 home edition where the old has window 10 professional. Any suggestions on the easiest way to do it. I plan on dedicating the old laptop to musical things.

I just want the best price for purchase of Microsoft Office Professional 64 bit for Windows 10 1 user. I was about to go for one and though I specified 64 bit it turned out to be 32 bit.
