DropBox says it will take 2+ days to Transfer 11,000 Word Files

The user has a work folder with 158 folders containing 11,400 Word and PDF files
They have to work from home. I can remotely control their office computer.

I did the following:
Created a DropBox account, using the 20GB promotion from Dell
Installed DropBox on both home and work computers
Dropped a folder containing the 158 Folders, and 11,000 files  into DropBox

The folders showed up on the home computer quite quickly.
However, DropBox keeps saying that it will need 2+ days to transfer.  Only a few files are have been moved into each folder from the office computer to the DropBox cloud

Upload speed is 30 Mbps at the office

I am thinking of turning off the sync for most of the folders, and then turning the sync on, batch by batch.  I am worried that removing folders from the work computer, and adding back later, will cause all sorts of synchronization havoc.

Is this terribly slow synchronization speed due to having a free rather than a paid version of DropBox?
Is my using selective sync the right way to go?

Thanks.

That does seem like a long time for 11K files.

Instead of adding files to two different devices, just use one device, let it sync, then add the other device and let it sync down.

You can also adjust the speed allocation in the settings/preferences.  Right click on the dropbox icon in your tray. Under your account, click the drop down to find preferences. In the middle at the top is a Bandwidth icon for the bandwidth options.  Set to don't limit to get the fastest sync.

Going back to the menu where you right click on the dropbox icon, there is an option to view sync issues. Check that out as well.

There are no sync issues.

I noticed that if I turn off the synchronization for a folder, DropBox says that the files will be deleted locally if they're not in the DropBox.

I am going to try shutting down DropBox, and starting again.  IF there is no performance boost, I will pull the folders out of DropBox, and add them a few at a time.

I've posted a message in the community, if that can be of any help.

DropBox has proven to be a disappointment under these circumstances

I did give it overnight, and I was worried that the upload and download speeds at the office were both 0.0
The Uploading number barely changed.

I Exited DropBox and started again, and now there is activity. 6400 files left, estimated at 3 hours

I'm sorry that I didn't try that an hour ago.
Good, I am glad you stuck with it.

For what it is worth, I don't know all the gory details, but there is a difference in how all of these work. I found I can't use VisualStudio on OneDrive for instance but I can use it on DropBox.
