Remote Desktop
Folks,
Hoping everyone is healthy and safe. Here's my objective:
One laptop and one desktop
Two keyboards.
I am trying to use Remote Desktop so I can have a single keyboard (desktop) to use with either workstation.
I am getting no where even after reading about Remote Desktop.
Is Remote Desktop the correct route and if so how is this done?

Depends on the versions of Windows you have.
If you have Windows 7/8/8.1/10 Pro, you can enable remote desktop. If it's only the Home version of Windows, then Remote Desktop is not available to you.
For personal, non-commercial use, you can use TeamViewer or VNC.

You could also download and install Mouse without Borders - an old Microsoft PowerToy that enables you to type on/control whichever computer the mouse is on and you can move the mouse seamlessly between computers.

Both machine are running Windows 10 Pro. Both machines are in the same room.
Mouse without Borders - I haven't heard that in years but I am familiar with it.
Appreciate the KVM alterative but I have no room for the switch.
TeamViewer was a pain but I have not looked at VNC.
With both machines Win 10 Pro shouldn't Remote Desktop work even though I only needing the keyboard?

Yes, remote desktop is the correct route and you can switch between remote desktops tools like Logmein, R-HUB remote support servers, Teamviewer etc.
What about mouse, and/or Monitor?
Are these both in the same physical location (room), or is one remote?
Without much more info it may be better to look at some type of KVM (Keyboard, Video, Mouse) device to allow you to switch the peripherals between the two systems. To give you and idea here are a couple of examples, not recommending them per se, they are just examples to give you an idea what they are like.
If you just want to swap the keyboard between the two systems, and it's a USB cabled keyboard, then you could look at just a KVM like device that just switches a couple of USB ports between the systems.
Remote Desktop could be a work around (in my opinion), but if the screen resolutions are different then that can sometimes not work perfectly. But it allows a quick way to bounce from one system to the other.
Anyway, if you can share a little more context that would be helpful.
