Presumably you are running a GUI, when you click on one of those files, the GUI environment media player comes up? Gnome player.

when I double-click on a file, the Parole Media Player comes up, saying &quot;Gstreamer backend error&quot;. &nbsp;I've researched that error and I think I might be able to change the Parole settings to get rid of the error. &nbsp;But I want to use VLC, not Parole.
