Migrate XenApp 7.15 to new AD domain

Hi,

I have Citrix Virtual App 7.15 Setup with all-in-one server(DDC, SF, SQL Express) and 2 x VDA servers hosting applications in an AD domain. Now I got a requirement to move that whole setup to new AD domain which has 2-way trust relationship with current domain.

Is there any way to do that with the least impact?

Thanks in advance,
N

I would rebuild in the new domain, to be honest.

As someone who specializes in both AD migrations and CVAD, I have NEVER recommended a domain migration of any version of XA/XD/CVAD environment. It is MUCH simpler to build new.

You do not have to rebuild your master image(s). Uninstall the VDA, reboot, remove from the current domain, reboot, join the new domain, reboot, install the VDA, point to the new DDCs, reboot, take your snapshot (if using MCS), build new machine catalogs, build new delivery groups, test.

Hi Tony and Carl,

Thanks for responses. If I build new Citrix site, is there any easy way to migrate Citrix policies(Not ADMX), Machine Catalogues and Delivery Group?

Regard,

You could try the Export-BrokerDesktopPolicy command in PS: https://developer-docs.citrix.com/projects/delivery-controller-sdk/en/latest/Broker/Export-BrokerDesktopPolicy/

Not sure how well it works as I've never used it and Carl may have a better answer as he's a real PowerShell wizard.

You can use this link from Citrix on how to Export/Import Policies. I prefer to create new ones. That gives you a chance to review all the settings to see what you still need.

How to Export and Import XenDesktop Policies Using PowerShell SDK

You can use my CVAD V2 doc script to get all your Citrix policy settings from both Studio and AD.

.\XD7_Inventory_V2.ps1 -AdminAddress DDCName -Policies -Section Policies -HTML (or -Text or -MSWord or -PDF)

You will need to have the Citrix.GroupPolicy.Command.psm1 module downloaded and copied. Instructions are in the ReadMe.

As far as Machine Catalogs and Delivery Groups, create new. You can use the doc script to get all the details for configuring the new. Check the script's very detailed help text.
