Whether they are fixed or not can you see on the output of ipconfig /all. If it looks like the attached image, then it's probably a fixed IP. When it's DHCP, then you'll see additional DHCP entries for your WIFI device.

If you never disconnect your modem, or only do brief reboots, your IP address will basically remain the same indefinitely.<br />
They've also set the DHCP lease to such a long time( over 6 days on cable ) , that you pretty much have to leave it off for a week to get a new IP address. &nbsp;Yes, technically, it's not a fixed IP, but you generally will keep your IP address for the duration of your service until you switch ISPs.

If you or others will frequently need to know the global IP address to get to your network/computer then you could look into configuring DDNS on your router. &nbsp;It allows the router to keep a web based service updated with your current external IP address and assigns a friendly name to it that external folks can use. &nbsp;A bit more info can be found at the link below or by searching for DDNS. &nbsp;If the need that prompted this question was just one time then no need for this, but if it's ongoing then something to consider.<br />

Is the 192.168. etc. my own permanent ip addess? I was pretty sure it was assigned by the cable provider when I log in, it is not fixed.<br />

Someone want's to know my ip address.
