Desktop PC running Windows 10 - no external audio, but inbuilt speaker is working
Hi Experts,
I've got an HP Desktop PC running Windows 10.
Just recently the audio output no longer works from any of the sockets (on both front and back).
But I hear barely audible sound coming out of the case, from an inbuilt speaker.
Regards.

try the speaker or headset in another computer to ensure that they work. Right click on the speaker icon in the system tray (close to the system time) then select troubleshoot sound problems. Does the plugged speakers work when you play a musical clip on your computer or is the problem just when you try to listen to audio when you are using your browser?
Another possibility (I've seen this at least a few times): left-click on the speaker next to the clock. Above the volume control is a drop-down to let you select the appropriate output. Note where it is set now and then try the other options.

Thanks, Kimputer, that driver update fixed the issue.
Thanks, Robert R and CompProbSolv for your suggestions.
It was bad luck that the driver update was an overnight download, so I couldn't do the driver update until after your posts.
