Wildcard Certificate and CSR Clarification

If someone else in your company already requested a wildcard certificate and is using it - can you just use that certificate for your device? e.g. suppose a sysadmin generated a CSR for *.foo.com to put on his IIS server. He saves that cert to a shared drive and installs it on his IIS server. A few months go by and he decides to put a load balancer in front of the IIS server. The VIP on the load balancer will also need *.foo.com. So I think the previously generated wildcard certificate can just be installed. Correct? Or would a new CSR have to be generated from the load balancer for *.foo.com? Thank you for clarifying.

Thanks for that reminder Noci. I recall that bit from a couple of years ago when I last had to apply a cert now that you mention it!
