asked on

PXE booting Virtual Box VM using a MAC.

I'm running a MAC with Virtual box 6.0, my MAC OS is: macOS 10.13.6

I have a WDS server on the network hosted on the same machine but I cannot get the VM to boot off the network using PXE.

I've added the extension pack to Virtual box, changed the boot order on the VM  but I cannot get it to boot off the network.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Are you using BRIDGED networking ?

Hi Andrew, the VM is using a Host-Only-Adaptor.

Okay, so changed both VMs to Bridged.

OK will do, but which network should I choose under 'name' - see attached.

which is your current working LAN ?

Before you change this do you have DHCP running on this VM, because otherwise you will have two DHCP servers running on the same LAN, which would cause a conflict ?

Yes DHCP is on the WDS VM.Thats why i was using host only as it does not connect to the router. The first adaptor is set to NAT to allow internet access to the VMs. Should I disable host only and set both to bridged?

The LAN has it's own DHCP server on the router that connects to the internet so yes there would be a conflict.
