You first should have a server Gpo through which you can push the printer and thus the drivers.<br>This will install the driver on boot.<br>Then the user pushed printer will use the newer driver.<br><br>You could use another server as the print server through which to deploy the printer with the new driver....<br><br><br>

The steps by @arnold are overkill and unnecessary. There's a reason why a print server exist. It's to manage print queues, settings, drivers, and ports. I manage 5 print servers with a total of approximately 600 print queues and i have never needed to push driver via GPO.&nbsp;

If you've listed the print queue in AD and have shared it out from the print server, the users will get the drivers assigned from the server when they install it.&nbsp;

That is not always correct, canon and ricoh are such printers. The driers do not exist as part of the OS. the print will be reflected, but any attempt to access the resource will prompt for driver install.<br><br>Use a setup as you have with a printer per user, but have one GPO that pushes the printer to the computer.<br><br>you can then use GPP on the user site to control/set/select printers.<br>when the printer is pushed to the computer, and is published to the computer, it will install the driver at system level.<br><br>I have not tried whether the driver installer includes an MSI which then can be used to push drivers by way of software deployment.<br><br>Best to have two print servers, and use the one currently not in use to push the installation of the new driver version.<br>test it on one workstatation to confirm it will work.<br><br>The driver on the workstation has to match the driver used on the print server through which it is printing.<br>I've done it this way with canon printers. push the new driver from secondary server.<br><br>then allow time to pass and either use GPP to have the user settings change to use the newer version through the other print server....onve you update the driver on the print server, anyone still using it with old drivers, would have the failures needing the driver updates.

A printer is a peripheral which makes a persistent human readable representation of graphics or text on paper or similar physical media.
