Access "Inconsistent State" and Disable Leasing solution

Experts,

We had a persistent problem a few months ago with Access throwing a frequent error that it was in an inconsistent state and automatically closing and backing up the database as documented by Microsoft here: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/access-reports-that-databases-are-in-an-inconsistent-state-%EF%BB%BF-7ec975da-f7a9-4414-a306-d3a7c422dc1d. The stated solution was to disable leasing on the host server, and I made a request to IT to do that and they just responded that they are ready to do it, but I realize that we haven't seen this problem for three months. So,
1 - Was the problem resolved with some quickfix or patch? Should we still go ahead even if we aren't seeing this problem currently?
2 - Should I request they disable leasing on the folder where our Access application resides or on the instance of windows on the host server?

Thanks
