VMware ESXi 5.1 Server keeps rebooting Randomly

Hi Everyone,

I have a ESXi 5.1 on x3650 M2 that is now Randomly restarting

ESXi is running on a USB drive in the server

It boots back up fine but has corrupted 2 VM's in rebooting and not sure why it's doing it

The only thing we have done of late is replaced to failed hard drives in Raid which Synced up fine and Raid is now healthy

ESXi is not running on that raid anyway, the only datastore

Hope someone can point me in the right direction

What Logfiles should I be looking at or upload here to see what its doing

Thanks Adam

Possible hardware fault.

1. check CPU

2. check memory

3. check fans

ESXi 5.1 is end of life, I would update to the latest and last version.

Do you get a PSOD (Purple/Pink Screen of Death)?

ASKER

No Warming lights anywhere

I don't see it reboot just get back and its rebooted

in vSphere, everything is showing Ticked and Normal

Should I go and put a New USB Drive in with ESXi 6.0 which i have been testing in my LAB and seems happy on x3650m2

To say that ESXi 5.1 is end of life is an understatement. It went EOL August 2016. ESXi 5.5 is also EOL.

I have just found BBU on Raid controller needs to be replaced as well would that be an issue maybe

I have raised another question but, am I better to remove it and can I do safely

I do have a second-hand battery that is not saying its faulty from an MR10i but seems to be the same Part Number for the M5015, Should I use that or leave off altogether

Maybe the issue would it
That could certainly explain corrupt VMs, if data in cache, was not written when the host rebooted.

because Cache was faulty, or not being backed up by the battery.

That should not cause a reboot or restart of ESXi.
Upgraded to ESXi 6.0 and although not certified with VMware all running very well
