It would be useful if you would be more specific about exactly what you're doing.

For example, what steps are you doing to "configure Active Directory"?

Hi Compprobsolv
I installed the windows server 2000, logged on to the window and followed the AD wizard that normally pops up. I attended to all dialogue that came up during configuration but I get the "network not located" error message. Maybe you can help with ur own steps from the scratch, I would appreciate.
It's been far too long since I dealt with Server 2000.  I also didn't find anything with a Google search on "network not located", so I'm at a loss here.

I'd start with confirming that you have basic networking set up correctly.  To what does the Server point for DNS?  If this is your only server, it should have DNS set up on it and point only to itself in the IP configuration.
Are you trying to join this to an existing domain, or setup a new domain? I certainly wouldn't setup a new domain on Windows 2000 Server.
More details would be helpful here. My guess is that this is legacy equipment, but if it wasn't attached to a domain 15 years ago, why start now?
Thanks CompProbSolv and kevinhsieh,

I am setting it up as the only server, this is because the equipment that I want to install its software requires a server/98/2000/NT/XP with active directory to function. The name of the software is totalchrom workstation. maybe u can help me check it out here. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.perkinelmer.com/CMSResources/Images/44-74576MAN_TotalChromWorkstationAppManager.pdf&ved=2ahUKEwjk1626pc_pAhWfAGMBHZ3sA6YQFjAAegQIAxAB&usg=AOvVaw1cQKjG7EdGanEca4BcKmS1
Look at the manual. From page 2-2, "You can set up and run TotalChrom in any kind of Windows environment: in a single domain, through multiple domains, or using workgroups. "

It is also supported on Windows XP, which would be far preferable to Windows 2000. It may even run on Windows 7 or 8.1, with or without XP compatibility mode.

So, I would try it on Windows 10 1909, 8.1, 7, then XP, in that order. No need for Active Directory if you don't already have it.

Hello kevinhsieh,

Thanks for ur quick responses,
Are you saying that without AD I can create those 4 pre-installation accounts needed? Let's say am using Windows XP professional, how do I create the account?
