SharePoint 2016 On-Prem Search Error (ExpandSegments)
I have a SharePoint farm that was working fine until earlier this month. It seems that the crawler is no longer indexing items. Using search, I can still find items that were added previously but anything added after May 6th is not searchable (this is old news, now that I reset the index, nothing is searchable!).
I am not a very well versed SharePoint person, so I would appreciate any assistance I can get!
When I go to Central Administration > Application Management > Manage Service Applications > Search Service Application > Crawl Log and click on my errors, I see 95%+ of my errors are "The content processing pipeline failed to process the item."
If I go further to find an item's individual error I can see this "The content processing pipeline failed to process the item. ( ExpandSegments; ; SearchID = 224FC09E-9FD3-4242-956B-AC
I enabled logging and using ULS Viewer I can see the following entries in order, by filtering on a single correlation ID and product contains search:
I have already tried resetting the index but these errors start popping back up instantly when I cut the crawler loose again. It appears that sites are being indexed, but documents are not.
Since some of the ULS Logs mentions Managed Properties, I tried to view Managed Properties and Crawled Properties, but when I open those locations in red at the top of the page I can see "An unknown error occurred." and I can't see any of the properties.
