Excel 2016 always hang after migrate to new laptop

Hi Expert,

I have user which Excel always hang after data transfer to a new laptop, perviously was using Excel 2010 now is using 2016 version 64bits. I suspect is the migrate over that caused the excel to be corrupt, it started to hang when 2 or more excel open.

All less then 2mb, so are really small and still hang. The hang will last up to almost 1 min, even on navigating and opening will hang. I have repair the MS office for her already but still can't resolve, which is very strange and it's a new laptop, Windows 10 with 16Gb ram, office and windows both updated.

If the excel is corrupt, what are some of the solution, use 3rd party software to repair? If so which free one is suitable? Or some other way? Appreciate is any expert can advice me on.

Thanks!

is it a XLSX or XLSM file?

If one file is having issues, recreate the Excel file. Just copy and paste the content to the new Excel file (.xlsx) and try it again.

Hi Sir,

It's XLSX, also it's multiple, copy paste not idea because some are huge and i can't ask a high position user to do that.

Thanks!
I don't think that all these Excel files are corrupted.

I've seen several times that Excel 2016 64-bit was causing the issue so we needed to reinstall it. In some cases, we needed to use the 32-bit version. And once or twice we needed to reload the system. I hope this is not the case.
You could try to uninstall office (use Option 2 from https://support.office.com/en-us/article/uninstall-office-from-a-pc-9dd49b83-264a-477a-8fcc-2fdf5dbf61d8?ui=en-US&rs=en-US&ad=US) then reinstall it.  I would recommend installing 32-bit version unless there is a particular need for 64-bit as for most users 64-bit truly doesn't advance their cause and makes all sorts of other headaches.
Hi Sir,

Thank you for reverting back.

If I were do uninstall it one license will be gone, as it's using MAK license, so it's not ideal. But is there a way to retain this type of license?

Thanks!

You haven't tried disabling add-ins. Also, you haven't tested it with another user account on this computer. So start with this. However, if these steps won't bring a solution, I don't think you have another option. The next step is to reinstall MS Office. If this won't help, I would try to install the 32-bit version which seems to be more stable (maybe I would install the 32-bit version first, if you don't need the 64-bit version for some reason).
The last option would be to reinstall Windows 10 (with keeping files and settings) and the clean installation.
Hi Sir,

Thanks you for reverting back.

Do you have the MS Office 2016 standard 32 bits official download? Only have 64 bits can can't find standard version 32 bits, but the issue of using 32 bits is unable to use over 2gb ram.

Thanks!

for Office 2016 discs, both 32-bit and 64-bit installers are available on the same media.
Hi Sir,

Is it this office32mui? Getting error 1713 though, thanks for the help

mmm... i don't have an Office 2016 disc with me at the moment.

for Office 2013, it is the "setup.exe" file under "x86" folder, as shown below.
