Good to install hypervisor on USB?
To setup a virtual host, Is it good to install the hypervisor to USB flash drive or SD flash card instead of hard disk of a physical server? Any concern about this? Is all common server band, such as dell, hpe, lenova servers support this function?

If you can choose, use SD flash card since there might be an issue with USB flash drive and newer firmware.

Hyper-V Server _can_ be installed on USB stick, but you really shouldn't. It requires certified Windows-to-Go media, which basically doesn't exist anymore and costs more than SATA DOM and small SATA SSD. It is only supported if supplied by your OEM, and no tier 1 OEM supported USB storage for Hyper-V Server last time I checked.

Thanks
Note that this thread is old, and VMware guidance has changed, and USB boot and SD boot are no longer recommend.
