IE Loca Cache

Hello,

Urgent, Please I am running windows 7 pro and IE 11. The temporary internet file size has been set to "0", and I am not able to adjust it. I tried move file to different location, and use regedit to change cache size. Reboot computer. Same result. When I change temporary internet files disk size, alsway get error message "Please select a value between 8 and 8 for how mush disk space Temporary Internet Files may use".

Please see the attached

  1. Login as the impacted user
  2. Run regedit to launch the Registry
  3. Navigate to HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\InternetSettings\5.0
  4. Delete (or rename as a precautionary step this may be best) the following keys: Cache, LowCache
  5. Open IE – IE will automatically create new Cache and LowCache keys
  6. Navigate down to Internet Options > General > Browsing History > Settings
After completing these steps Disk Space should now be set to 250 by default, and you should be able to change the value. Current location should also have a valid path.”

Do you have another idea please ?
Did you try resetting IE settings completely?

Unsure if you’ve tried this looking at the cache key too (see link for details):

Otherwise, a new local user profile may have to be created as a last resort.

Please I am waiting ?
Are you able to run a System Restore on your Windows 7 machine back to before when the issue emerged? Are there any restore points available?

Also,
Copying the Users > Administrator History Folder to your Users AppData/Local/Microsoft/Windows/History I think someone tried that too.

I suspect though it’s an issue with the user profile itself, if you create a new local user the error most likely won’t be there.

Please Do you have Any Idea ?
I’ve reached out to a few others in our Expert Exchange community.
sounds like a group policy item was set.
Does this problem only apply to certain machines or certain users.
a) login on a working machine to see if the issue follows the user.
b) login as a different user on a problematic machine and see if the issue is still there.

if the problem doesn't follow then logoff and login again and test to ensure that the group policies have been applied.
