Precious Metals API

Precious Metals API.  I have been asked to fix a connection script to an API.  The API pulls information about Precious metals, including current price.  My question is not about fixing the API but about the API itself.  There seems to be a lot of services that will offer an api that will show the current price of precious metals but it would appear to me that they are all getting that information from a specific source.  Where do you think all of the services are getting this API that they are turning into their own API?

@dave thanks for the advice.  That seems obvious now that I think about it.  I went to the Chicago Options exchange and the API starts at about $850 per month.  Interesting.

PHP is often paired with the MySQL relational database, but includes support for most other mainstream databases. By utilizing different Server APIs, PHP can work on many different web servers as a server-side scripting language.
