Troubleshooting Question

How to give a limited admin access for a user to run .exe on the user workstation.

Hi
When users log into their PC in our network, they get authenticated through Azure AD.
We have an application, which is a .exe and this application is used to import data to the cloud
On the user’s PC when I click the .exe application, it prompts for the admin credential.
I have the global admin access and when I put my 0365 email address and password, it authenticates successfully and the .exe file gets executed.
Now I would like the staff to execute the .exe successfully to export the data.
I don’t want to give this user a global admin privilege
Please let me know what permission levels I need to provide to this staff so that she can execute the .exe  with her 0365 email address and password.
Any help much appreciated

Thanks in advance

This is more than unusual. Exporting data does not require such credentials.

The basic question is: What actions require these permissions?

Without knowledge of these, it's hard to give concrete advice.

Hi
That user prompt could be due to Windows UAC (user access control) enabled.
Try to disable UAC in control panel.
If it is a domain member, you may need to disable it through GPO.

Another workaround,
Try to 'run this application as administrator' option is checked under the properties of the application.

Set up a security group in AD, add user to that group, apply the permissions required to run the app to the group and the user would then have access to that particular application.

I can create a security group and add that user to that group.
But, please post me tutorials as to how to apply permission on the security group to run that particular application.

Thanks

you have to find out why the executable requires administrative rights using the application compatibility toolkit
