Solution for sharing Quickbooks company file over cloud space between people using QuickBooks 2020 on their home computers
Hi,
In our office, 2 people used QuickBooks Premier Accountant Edition 2020 on their Windows 10 PCs.
They shared our company file in Quickbooks between each other over our network.
This way they both could use Quickbooks working on the one company file instead of having to send each other the updated company file after making changes.
Our office is closed now because of the Pandemic.
We have the Quickbooks company file on one person's laptop but it is not being shared at the moment with the other person.
We would like to find a solution for sharing this file over cloud space so that both people could use the Quickbooks company file at the same time on the Quickbooks on their home computers.
How do you think we can do this?
Thanks,
Robbie

Quickbooks is notoriously bad on unreliable networks/WAN links.
The only real safe, secure, and legal way to do this would be a remote desktop server type setup. Native, Citrix, etc.

Agreed. That's why my preferred solution is remote access to the workstation. It's as reliable as the LAN where the server is located, same as their pre-pandemic arrangement.

Hi all,
Thanks for your feedback.
We had been using remote access to their computers for a while during the pandemic and this worked fine.
We are now looking for solutions where we don't have to rely on the office and can continue our work even if there is a power outage, internet lost in office or if we decide to move our office to just working at home.
We have already moved our email to Office 365 and are looking to have a way of using our Quickbooks file through the cloud.
Is there a good solution you could recommend where the file could be used through the cloud without reliance on our office?
Thanks,
Robbie

Another option is to set up a VPN at the office (what firewall/router are you using?) and have both users VPN to the office and access the QB data file there. Depending on your internet speeds, this may or not have reasonable performance.
